My Baby Photo, ft. My Cousin

Lots of my baby photos were of me with my brother or my two cousins who lived near me at the time. If it was only a photo of me, I'd probably be near something related to them, like the photo of me wearing my older cousin's boots that are now, of course, heavily nostalgic and reminiscent of the mid-2000s but were ill-fitting on a tiny toddler. The photos of me when I was with them, though, are my favorites. Here's a part of a photo of me with my two cousins and my older brother:

My cousins were watching something on the television, and I was obviously uninterested. The way I side-eyed the camera is still so funny to me. I was looking through my albums, cringing to myself because I didn't think I could possibly find anything I could post for my blog without regretting it immensely, but then, I found this. I was immediately reminded of this dog:

My brother was right beside me, face buried into another ornate pillow just like the one my cousin was beside. He didn't even want to entertain them, it seemed. I, however, remember that I loved spending time with my cousins, even though I didn’t always understand what they were doing, which is definitely something you don't think of when you first see this photo. Even I first thought that I just really wanted to leave them alone and go do whatever toddlers like to do, like rip grass out of the ground or consume sidewalk chalk. I think I sat with them for the whole segment, though. I loved them a lot, even if I didn't know what love was. I wanted to be like them. I wanted to be around them. They were so cool to me, the American girl that I wanted to be--but, of course, I never formulated thoughts like these until I was older. Little me knew, though, that there was something special about them, about our bond. Of course I had to watch the moving pictures with them.

  1. Eva this is adorable! I love how you described your feeling of love for your cousins as how a toddler would, especially the part about ripping grass out of the ground. I also loved how even though your brother wasn't in the picture, I could still imagine what he looked like from your description. Love the dog meme :) Nice job!

  2. Hi Eva, the picture of you is so adorable. I love how you included the dog meme that matched your face expression. I also liked how you talked about your special bond with your cousins and how you could have been doing other things instead of staying. When I was little, I would do the same and try to be doing whatever my cousins were doing too. Great post!
